Thank you to everyone for an absolutely fantastic weekend in Houston. The rain could certainly not dampen the spirit and comradery of those clad in Gold & Blue. I would like to thank all of those who worked so diligently to put on one of the best Shrimp Boils! I want to thank Gelareh and Raymond Chafin for their outstanding leadership this year. The chapter has produced some of our greatest alumni leaders, such as Bill & Christie McCartney and Jed & Nancy DiPaolo to name a few, and you both have continued that tradition. I would be remiss if I did not inform the membership of the Lone Star Chapter that their very own, Nancy DiPaolo, this past weekend, was elected Chair of the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors. Congratulations to her!
I saw some old friends and met many new ones, which is why events like this are so important. Over 125 people attending the Shrimp Boil, through a driving rain storm, speaks volumes of the commitment and loyalty of our Mountaineers in the Houston area. The Lone Star Shrimp Boil has become one of the great signature events for the Alumni Association, in the same breathes as the NCAC Crabfeast and Boone Co. Pig Roast. You have all contributed to this and for that we will be eternally grateful.
