Billy and I are excited to announce the NEW Lone Star Chapter Officers for the 2009-2010 year:
Raymond and Gelareh Chafin – Co-Presidents
Greg Weidenhammer – VP Membership and Chief Technology Officer
Jason Smith – VP Activities
Ray Holtzapple – Treasurer
Terry Bearce – Secretary
We have had a GREAT three year run as Chapter Co-Presidents! Prior to holding the Co-President position, we served as VPs of Membership and VPs of Activities – we have close to 10 years of Lone Star Chapter involvement. We will continue to stay involved, but just are taking a “back seat.”
Thanks to everyone who helped support us during our tenure and we continue to look forward to seeing you all at future chapter events!

Wow – what a FABULOUS time we had on Saturday at the WVU Lone Star Shrimp Boil!
Almost 100 people enjoyed the festivities which included a meet and greet with the coaches, and great food and ambiance provided by the Ragin Cajun!
We were lucky enough to have the following guests at our event:

In addition to the visitors from Morgantown, we were also lucky enough to have current WVU student athlete swimmer Shaunna Purtell attend with her parents, Lisa and Mike Purtell.
Many attendees enjoyed winning free door prizes and the chapter raffled off many other prizes including signed footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, swimming caps, football tickets to the Louisville game, basketball tickets to the Cincinnati game, and a signed Steve Slaton Texans jersey. Congratulations to all of the lucky winners!
Also, as most of you also know, we have been constantly raising funds for our $10,000 chapter pledge towards the GORGEOUS new Alumni Association building in Morgantown. This weekend, thanks to pledges from local WVU alumni and their spouses, we were able to EXCEED our chapter goal!
We cannot thank Mike and Mickey Ellis and Terry and Carol Lester enough!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
And special thanks to our volunteers who spent countless hours and energy planning and executing the Shrimp Boil!

As in years past, everyone who attended the shrimp boil received a Shrimp Boil t-shirt – thanks to Raymond Chafin who designed the shirts for us this year! If anyone missed the shrimp boil and would like to purchase a t-shirt – we are selling extras for $15 each. Let us know if you are interested. You can either pick it up at the next Lone Star event or you can pay for shipping and we will send it to you. Just let us know.

Every year, the WVU Lone Star Chapter gives each Houston area WVU student a $100 gift certificate to the WVU Book Exchange. Schedule Change for Shrimp Boil!
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009There has been a slight change to the Shrimp Boil Schedule from previous announcements.
From 11:30am to 1pm, there will be a meet and greet with all of the special guests.
Then, from 1-3pm, we will have the Shrimp Buffet, Guest Speakers, and the Raffle!
