Join us on Saturday, February 7th at the Houston Texans Grille at City Centre to celebrate West Virginia University’s 148th Birthday as we cheer on the nationally ranked WVU Men’s Basketball team to victory over Baylor.
Tip-off is at 11 AM.
WVU was born on Feb. 7, 1867 from the Morrill Land-Grant College Act of 1862. This act of Congress offered “land grants” of federally owned land to states that agreed to establish colleges to teach agriculture and the mechanical arts. On Oct. 3, 1863, the state legislature voted to accept a grant of land totaling 150,000 acres from the federal government. Funds from the sale of this land were used to establish WVU.
